At My Next Memory, one of our strong points is that we see our travellers like our friends and we love to give you advice. So in case you’re still wondering what to do of your Golden Week, here is everything to convince you that your perfect vacation will be in France <3
October is the perfect time to visit France!
And why is that so ? Well, October gathers the ideal conditions for visitors in France. First, the weather is still nice and mild in most parts of the country. But above all, while it’s a massive people rush in China, it’s LOW SEASON in France. The French are working, their kids are in school, and this is the same for most other tourists like Americans and Europeans that you would expect to see normally in the summer. So October is a delight for lower prices in all accommodation and attractions but also to enjoy superb spots and sceneries all to YOURSELF ! This is truly a golden opportunity for Chinese visitors and you should not miss it.
Where to go especially in October?
Aside from Paris which is always a must-stop, here our three favourite regions to pick for your October holidays in France.
Definitely our number one! Corsica is a little gem of an island in the Mediterranean sea. The birthplace of Napoleon is not to be missed for its fabulous natural beauty and millennia traditions. It deserves so well its nickname of “Beauty Island”! The magnificent and iconic landscape is composed of undulating mountains and peaks that seem to fall directly into the turquoise waters of the Mediterranean. Corsica is a perfect mix of chic romance, beauty and wild nature. It’s an ideal place to relax on a paradise beach, discover littles villages or go hiking around stunning plateaus and lakes.
While there won’t be any lavender in bloom, October is a beautiful time to discover Provence like it really is: quiet and charming. Click here to see our insider’s guide to Provence!
3/ Southwest and the Perigord
We’ve already written a bit about Bordeaux as you can see here, but the countryside next to it could also be a golden idea for your golden week ! Authentic villages and tons of yummy food and wine specialties to explore. Why not rent a private villa for a few days and enjoy the beauty of the scenery, only to be interrupted by your bike rides and your visits to the markets and old churches?
And why not the North of France?
We could go on with lots of recommendations for October. That being said, we do advise you to avoid the North of France. The main reason is again, weather: October is the start of the rainy season in the North. It gets cold and humid and not suitable or enjoyable for travel. You should also note that snowing is slowly going to start in the Alps, but the amount of snow won’t be enough for skiing, so you should rather wait for December to March for some skiing fun.
Paris will of course be your first stop. Or will somehow be in your must-sees list.
So for those who have the same taste for life and art, in addition to the regular sights of Paris, the next paragraph of memories wants to take you to see two exceptional exhibitions:
“What is Art Nouveau? Art will never be new.” – Alphonse Mucha
The famous Czech painter Alphonse Mucha (1860-1939), who is famous for his beauty and decorative beauty, is the representative painter of the European Art Nouveau. As a poster painter, Mu Xia’s high output in posters often masks his achievements in oil painting, sculpture, sketching, decorative painting and so on. The exhibition, which began on September 12th at the Luxembourg Museum in Paris, wanted to showcase the creative style of this prolific painter.
“The perfect painting should be the poetry of the artist’s music.” – Juan Miro
The Grand Palais in Paris hosted the commemorative exhibition of the Spanish artist Joan Miró (1893 – 1983). Through more than 150 works, he comprehensively reviewed the creative skills of Miro and his career as a painter, sculptor, printmaker and potter. The evolution of style. The time span of the work is over 70 years. Milo is a representative of surrealism, an important 20th-century artist who shares the same name as Picasso and Matisse. His style of creation has undergone a change from Fauvism, Realism, and Surrealism, and is known for its strong colors, imagination, and poetry.
